Why use an online dating service?

Operating on the same premise as the traditional brick-and-mortar services, online dating  services have questionnaires to help you to develop a profile, post your photo and encourage you to write a paragraph or two that gives other members an idea of your personality.

Online DatingWhy go online? You broaden your pool of members, obviously. A regular dating service is great if you want to stay within driving distance, but let’s face it – it’s getting harder to find the ideal partner, so why limit yourself? You can also search specific areas. You’ll be moving to Melbourne in three months? Why wait to meet people after the move? Go online and meet a special someone now!

Timing is everything, and we don’t have enough of it, and online dating is the way to open a dialogue with several potential dates on your own schedule. With IM, email and chat rooms, you don’t have to plan a face-to-face until you’re both ready. And it’s amazing how much you can learn about each other surfing the web and chatting together!

Many online dating services offer extras, too – sending “kisses,” personality quizzes and links to dating articles and advice – all of these give you extras that traditional dating service  just don’t offer, and all from the comfort of your home.

Most offline dating services are located in metropolitan areas, which is fine, except that means they’re located in the areas that ironically need them the least. In smaller towns or rural areas, you need a large pool of interesting people to meet, but there weren’t dating services available until online dating agencies took off.
